Join us, as we celebrate poems about summer!
We’ll be meeting under the shelter at Norsen Bridge Park for a casual get-together and workshop. Emphasis will be on what we notice and hear, focusing on image, tone, and musicality.
We’ll start with classic medieval and the renaissance work of William Shakespeare, and move into grittier summer poems of the city, of the migrant worker, and more.
Each attendee will walk away with a greater understanding of some of the basics of what makes a memorable seasonal poem. As well we’ll learn some fun, interesting biographical facts about the poets discussed. Lemonade and a treat will be served!
* NOTE: This is not a writing workshop, but rather an appreciation of poems and tips on what makes them work so well. Participants will each receive a packet of poems along with further reading recommendations. Time permitting, we will also take a nature walk.
