Calling for Submissions Now-March 13th
In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, Newark Public Library and
Wayne County Council for the Arts are excited to announce Newark’s first
annual Verses in the Village, a program to bring the beauty and inspiration
of poetry by local poets to the public.
Published and budding poets residing within a 10-mile radius of Newark,
are invited to submit one or two original poems of up to 150 words each.
Submissions must be typed using at least a size 14 font and fit on a single
8½ “ x 11” page. They will be reviewed by the organizing committee (listed
below), and selected poems will be highlighted in downtown businesses
throughout the month of April. A list of cooperating businesses and the
poem(s) on display will appear on the Verses in the Village website.
In addition, the authors will be invited to read their poem(s) at a public
reading at the Wayne County Council for the Arts gallery in Newark at a
future date.
To submit a poem or request more information, please email
Versesinthevillage@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is Monday,
March 13.
