2017 Library Budget Vote


The Newark Public Library has proposed an 8-cent tax increase per $1,000 in assessed property value. A vote on the proposal to the Library’s yearly tax funding. The public referendum will take place in the general election on Tuesday, May 16, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Newark High School, 625 Peirson Ave.

The proposal amounts to an estimated $92 per $100,000 of assessed value on properties across the Newark Central School District (an increase of $8.40). For the average home, assessed at $84,000, the tax increase to support the Library would be $7.06 a month.

Members of the Newark Central School District may vote on this proposition at the school budget vote Newark High School, 625 Peirson Ave.

Eligibility to Vote

Newark Central School District residents 18 years of age or older may register to vote.

Absentee Ballot

Applications for absentee ballots shall be obtainable from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Monday through Friday at the Newark Central School District Offices starting May 2, 2017; completed applications must be received by the School District Office at least seven (7) days before the vote and election. Absentee ballots are available
